J&K’s Rajouri District’s First Handicraft Listing on Amazon

Jammu, August 23 (KNN) Handicrafts made by local artisans in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir were launched on Amazon on Monday by Rajouri district development commissioner Vikas Kundal.

According to reports, products listed on online marketplaces like Amazon and GeM included ‘chikri woodcraft’, which has been practiced for more than a century, with the Thana Mandi area of Rajouri being its main center.

This move by the administration of Jammu and Kashmir will help provide a market link to local artisans.

Speaking at the launch, Kundal said, “The administration is committed to providing the best platform for artisans in the district where they can sell their products in an easy way and this is the first step in that direction. Such measures will also continue in the future.

The district administration has already taken a number of steps to help artisans, including the opening of a rural haat at Muradpur.

The Rajouri and Handicraft Cooperative Department has played a major role in the necessary training of craftsmen and market exhibitions, the official said.

Local authorities are also working tirelessly to revive cooperative societies in the region. (KNN Office)
